Kudos to Rafael Nadal

Kudos to Rafael Nadal for winning the US Tennis Open in New York recently. And kudos to Novak Djokovic; to the Mustichs in Italia and Espana, and Serbia.

My grandfather Giuseppe Mustich came to America in the early 20th century from Latiano, Italia. Latiano is near Bari & Brindisi, where he grew up, after being born in Lecce. The Mustichs have been in southern Italia since the early 18th century, when a Mustich was a governor in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and here he would travel from Latiano to Naples on business; and they have been in Barcelona, Espana, since the early 19th century, where they put in the first rail line. My grandfather came to the New York for a "visit" but he never returned to Italia....

To be continued....

Speaking of Espana,
Dr David Murray's book "Odious Commerce: Britain, Spain and the Aboliton of the Cuban Slave Trade," from Cambridge University Press, he talks about the slave trade in Spain, West Africa, and Cuba; and he mentions a "notorious Mustich," who was a governor of the West African island of Fernando Poo off the coast of Cameroon and Nigeria. England was going to go to war with Espana if they didn't stop this "notorious" governor; and stop him from trading slaves to Cuba....
